The Multicultural Comedy Gala is a side-splitting celebration of Australia’s rich cultural diversity, by a world class selection of the most acclaimed and celebrated comedians in the nation.
This star-studded line up will poke fun at everything that makes us different, but so much the same.

AKMAL (NOMINEE – ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release 2018) immigrated to Australia from Egypt with his family nearly 30 years ago. He is now considered one of Australia’s most respected, successful, and accomplished comics. Akmal has been nominated for two Australian Comedy Awards, two Helpmann Awards and two ARIA awards for his solo shows Live and Uncensored (2008) and Transparent (2018).
DILRUK JAYASINHA (RECIPIENT - Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent, 2018) hails from Sri Lanka and is one of the most in demand headliners on the Australian and international comedy scene; with credits ranging from appearances at Just for Laughs, sell out shows for The Art of the Dil (2017); and two recorded hour-long specials, for the ABC and Amazon Prime - released globally in 2020.
GEORGIE CARROLL (WINNER - Best Comedy Adelaide Fringe 2022) is a Comedian, Author, Registered Nurse and family woman born in the UK, now settled in Australia. Georgie is a national sell-out act, with 7 solo shows under her belt and a recorded special with Network Ten; The Gloves are Off. Georgie is touring theatres nationally in 2022 with her stand up show Sista Flo 2.0, and publicizing her much anticipated book, Off The Charts (Pan Macmillan).
STEPH TISDELL (WINNER – John Pinder Award, MICF 2019) is a proud Ydinji woman, and major up-and-comer in the Australian Comedy Scene. Since her 2014 arrival, Steph has regularly appeared on Australian television and recently hosted the 2022 MICF Gala. Steph’s 2018 debut solo show Identity Steft, won the weekly award for best emerging talent at Adelaide Fringe Festival, and was nominated for Best Newcomer Award at MICF in the same year.
SIMON TAYLOR (RECIPIENT – Under Our Wing Award, The Butterfly Club) has performed over 5,000 gigs across 57 cities in ten countries and has won numerous industry awards. He’s been seen on ABC TV, Network Ten and Netflix and is a highly sought-after Hollywood writer, having penned jokes for NBC, Disney, and Comedy Central. Simon was a writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno until its completion and wrote for Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell on the ABC.
TING LIM (NATIONAL FINALIST – MICF RAW) has represented Queensland in the national Green Faces competition and has become a regular at the renowned Sit Down Comedy Club in Brisbane. Ting’s comedy has taken her from her native Singapore, to sharing the stage with comedian legends and screen with Jimeoin – where she was recently featured on an episode of Waltzing Jimeoin (Network 10).

By purchasing this ticket, the ticket holder/s have agreed to the full set of terms and conditions as outlined on the ticketing website. Ticket holders must present their tickets upon entry to the event as an A4 printed ticket (please do not resize the ticket) or on a Smart Phone. Government issued Photo ID may be required upon entry to validate authenticity as a ticket holder. If this event is cancelled before the scheduled start date & time for reasons of severe weather, flood, fire, explosion, civil disobedience, riot, labour disturbances ...other acts of God, excluding COVID Lockdowns, then Local Tickets will issue refunds for the ticket price only. Refunds will only be processed after the Event Organiser settles ticketing account. If the event is rescheduled, Local Tickets Pty Ltd reserves the right to decide whether Ticket Holders will automatically be refunded, or whether tickets will be transferred to another date with a refund option. Local Tickets Pty Ltd reserves the right to deduct administration and merchant fee charges on all refunds from Ticket Holders regardless of the reason for the refund. Ticket Holder details may be used by Local Tickets Pty Ltd and the Event Organiser for marketing purposes. If this event is cancelled due to a COVID lockdown, the refund policy is: A refund for the ticket price will be processed by Local Tickets. If a scheduled artist/experience/supplier cannot attend due to any COVID laws the refund policy is: A replacement or substitute may be added at the event organiser discretion. This event is subject to state COVID-19 Safe Laws and specific industry practices must apply. Guests may not be permitted to enter the event if they display any COVID-19 symptoms. Guests will be required to be seated at all times. Latecomers may be admitted at the discretion of the Event Host/Promoter. No children under the age of 15 are permitted to the event. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Attendees must comply with all alcohol, smoking and behavioural laws within the event venue and or grounds. Attendees to the event must comply with the following dress standards, smart casual, suitable shoes, no thongs, or any other dress standard as required by law. Mobile phones must be turned off before entry. Cameras, phones, and other recording devices are not permitted into the event.
